How are you… GloVers? Have you already scheduled a strict weekly program or not? Have you started anything new?

We all know that September and partly, October are a second “new year” and most of us, right after our vacations, start making new goals. For those of you that appreciate our opinion, we hope that you do have something new and the truth is we would be glad to hear about it (comment please!).

Especially if this new thing is as important to you as the not-so-new part of GloVo, about which we will be talking today, is for us.

Can you guess what we mean? Off course you can! It couldn’t be nothing else but GloVo.4all!

So, let’s take a look at this interesting and really important part of GloVo.

GloVo.4all was founded in July 2014 and it all started when some of our volunteers noticed that they knew people with disabilities who, under the right circumstances, could be really active and energetic. And by saying “right” we mean, mainly, accessible.

GloVo.4all has a major and very specific goal, which is no other than activating people with disabilities by giving them a reason to get out of their houses, socialise, be creative and face the world with confidence.

Do you wonder what kind of disabilities we are talking about? Since last year there were people with sensory and physical ones. But starting from this year, GloVo.4all will be open to people with mental disability too.

The reason we are doing this is that we strongly believe in a society, in which people with disabilities are treated as equals rather than exceptions. In our opinion, if people with disabilities become a big and permanent part of volunteers, then their role into our society will open. Giving them access to volunteerism is one of the first small steps we could take to make this vision true.

Secondarily, we aim to raise awareness regarding the problems these people face. There are people who have little or no knowledge or some others who have only some general information about this issue. We want to make them all understand, acquire knowledge and be able to help someone who has a disability, when needed.

Now, you might wonder who are the volunteers who organise GloVo.4all’s actions. The answer is they are volunteers who mostly care about these causes and want to do something for it and although two of them have a specific training, this is not a precondition and most of them aren’t experts.

Since today there are 15 volunteers with different kinds of disabilities that have registered to our platform and have taken part to our events.

Last July, GloVo.4all organised its first big event called “ΑΝαπειρία”, which took part in British Council and its main goal was to raise awareness regarding disabilities.

This year, some of GloVo.4all’s volunteers will be members of the organising team of our volunteer conference, “Sparks by GloVo”, “ΑΝαπειρία” event will be taking place once more and finally there gonna be one big event for which we prefer not to say much… We want to surprise you!

Finally, as you might have already realised, GloVo.4all is a great and significant part of GloVo which we want to improve and strengthen. Why? Because our vision is to live in a society where everyone is equal, important and valuable.

Thus, if you are a person with disability subscribe to our platform, like GloVo.4all on facebook (don’t forget to like GloVo’s page also here) and send us a message asking any information and detail you need to know. We will be waiting for you!

If you aren’t a person with disability, but you know someone who is, show them this article! Now!

Additionally, check out this great video that says much more about GloVo.4all!

Phew! That’s all for today! We hope that this passion we show for our not-so-new part of GloVo will convince you to start something new. Because everything at the beginning is new but at the end it isn’t (how wise are we?).

The GloVo team
